Insect Inspection
Many mortgage companies (even on conventional mortgages) require a wood destroying insect inspection report. Even if the mortgage company does not require it, a wood destroying insect inspection is a good idea.
An insect inspector looks for the following 5 different insects that damage wood:
- Termites
- Carpenter Ants
- Carpenter Bees
- Old House Borers
- Powder Post Beetles
All inspections for wood destroying insects, including termites, should be performed to VA/FHA Standards.
HomePro inspections are performed by State licensed pest control operators who report using forms compliant with FHA and VA.
Although your home inspector looks for structural damage, he may not be able to determine if any wood destroying insects are still active or what treatment may be needed. In the event that damage (due to insects) is discovered, a qualified pest control professional should be contacted.
